Noisy and colorful!

"If you're quiet, you're not living. You've got to be noisy and colorful and lively."
Mel Brooks
Today was a lively day. A day full of sounds and color and noise. A good day to be alive. A day for feeling the warmth of the sun on my shoulders as I potted petunias and verbena and asparagus ferns in rich black soil. A day for the scent of onions and potatoes slow roasting on the grill, soon to be accompanied by the sizzle of a thick juicy hamburger. A day filled with the familiar bark of neighborhood dogs, the cheery whistle of our newly nested orioles and two good friends singing along with George Strait on an ancient garage radio. A day for finding beauty in the most unusual places...and planting joy in the form of seeds for another day to come. A day filled with joy in the sight of the patio umbrella, opened for the first time this spring. A day for throwing open the windows, sweeping away the traces of winter and welcoming in the color and noise of spring. A day filled with dirt under the nails, sweat on the brow, supper on the deck....and simple joy in the noise and color of an ordinary life!
