Soar....

"Be as a bird
perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her,
still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings."

Victor Hugo

Another spring migration down that stretch of I-80......a trip that has become a season changing ritual to us.....a journey filled with sounds and sights and relaxation and food and simple joys! The sandhill cranes are birds that soar.....with a song that is pure magic. They fly and dance and sing and feed and rest with a spirit that seems to have no limits. They glide slow and graceful with their heads outstretched as if looking into the future....and their legs stretched behind them, sunk deep in the past. What lessons in simple joy we find in pausing, watching, listening and trying to capture their spirit for a fleeting moment on film! Lessons that speak to us of bravery, endurance, loyalty, family and persistence! Lessons that teach of the freedom to be found on the wings of these ancient travelers. There is such joy to be found in filling your heart with the song of the spring crane migration...a song that reminds you that all roads in life lead us to where we're supposed to be.....even if the path is poorly marked! And that when it all seems to be falling apart, the best thing you can do is to spread your wings, do a little dance, sing a little song.....and soar!
