Freedom

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures...
Thornton Wilder

This was a holiday jam packed with all things American! A 3 day weekend stuffed full of baseball and picnics...sun filled days in swimsuits and sunscreen...still warm nights spent barefoot in pursuit of just one more firefly to add to an old mayonnaise jar filled with a hand full of grass! Mid summer days filled with the crack of fireworks...and the juice of cold watermelon slices trickling down your chin! A holiday to celebrate freedom...and liberty...and family! A holiday to fly the flag proudly...weave streamers in the wheels of a child's bicycle and watch a neighborhood parade! A holiday just made for apple pie and slightly burnt hamburgers on the grill and icy cold beer to wash it all down! A holiday that reminds us all just how lucky we are ...and what treasures fill our lives! A holiday to celebrate the choices we have made...and appreciate those that chose before us! A holiday to thank those who defended us...those who died to protect us...and those who now stand to do the same! A day to celebrate courage...honor...commitment!
And...for those of us that spent this long 3 day holiday in the midst of a birthing burst ...a reminder that the race we call life isn't always to the swift...but to those who keep on running! (What a truly great group I had to run with!)

A birthing burst...was having to work 16 hour days to cover laboring moms coming out of our ears! What joy...but so much of it at once! I'm blessed...and tired! Blessings to you both...Billie
