With Gratitude!

Heroes are people who rise to the occasion and slip quietly away.
--Tom Brokaw

Today....on the eleventh day of the eleventh month...a small group of Veterans were honored in a small Midwest school. Today, a class of young men and women honored the heroes in their life....and some of those heroes were lucky enough to be there to share their stories...and a cookie...with our future. These young children listened with pride...and fascination...as their mothers and fathers and grandmothers and grandfathers told their stories. They heard about freedom..and what it costs....and how it shaped their lives. They spoke of generations of Americans. before them.....and what was lost..and about the legacy they left us. Patriotism...and pride....and gratitude are hard values to teach...but in thirty short minutes in an elementary school lunchroom, a group of boys and girls learned lessons to last a lifetime. In thirty short minutes......a hero they love was honored...(their Grandpa Joe!).. ...and the smile is still on his face! To the veterans...those that walked before us...and those that walk amongst us...and to those, like our son, that still quietly serve...this family thanks you.

This is so awesome...it is one thing to honor someone but to be able to bring right to home ground make all the difference...love the picture too...as always...excellent!

Great tribute. I had my flag flying high from my car window as I drove to and from Art. Beautiful fall photos in the previous post. Peace
