Golden moments...

Some people weave burlap into the fabric of our lives, and some weave gold thread.   Both contribute to make the whole picture beautiful and unique.

Fall is here...a beautiful tapestry of color that takes your breath away!     On a Sunday morning in September, we set out on a day trip in search of fall.....and found it in the mountains of Colorado!  Fall in Colorado wears very different colors than we see in Nebraska....colors that shimmer in the sunlight and quiver in the wind.  Windows down, camera in hand and coffee steaming in our cups, we nosed our little truck upwards, rounded a bend in the road and found ourselves speechless......

...on this ordinary burlap kind of day, just around that bend in that road we found  gold!  ... and green and orange and brown and purple and blue....and a hundred shades between them!    All of which contributed to make this one of the most beautiful...and unique days of my life.  I'll long remember the crispness of the air and the whisper of the aspen leaves in the wind.  I'll remember shivering on the short walk to the Java Moose and sipping a rich  Ghirardelli  hot chocolate, turning the heater on in the truck and watching the snow starting to fall....in September!  Joy...pure, simple joy....on a lazy Sunday road trip!

Your words make it so real that I felt the chilly air all the way to TN. Glorious colors and yes it would take my breath away too if I rounded a bend and saw this vision. Thank you so much for sharing your Sunday road trip with us. Peace

Thank you, thank you for this beautiful post. I've heard so much about the aspens, but have never seen Colorado in the autumn...your photos are glorious. And your words took me right along with you. Your Java Moose reminded me so much of our autumn trips to North Carolina mountains, and the wonder and ecstacy of October snow-flurries...blowing UP the mountainside. I'm so happy for your magic day. Long live JOY!

FYI, I found your blog because, when I was creating mine, I decided that I wanted it to be about simple joys. (So many other blogs that I visited at the time were reviewing European tours, and I knew mine would be mostly about my yard. But I revel in that.) So I googled "simple joys" looking for a good quote on the topic, and instead found your blog...which is much better :-).

If you get a moment, please come take a stroll through my "garden in the rain." My yard! :-) You are most welcome there.
