Winter Stories

...winter...when you feel the bone structure of the landscape..
the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter.
Something waits beneath it,
the whole story doesn't show.
(Andrew Wyeth)

There's a part of me that loves winter days.....chilly days just made for
reading books , sipping coffee, burning candles and listening to a favorite old
song on the radio. Days designed for thick wool socks and down filled jackets
and white fuzzy mittens. Long winter days filled with splashes of color
and tiny bits of joy to be found.....frost on the windowpanes,
redbirds at the feeder, a neighbor plowing your driveway open
( without being asked!).., a snowman that stands in your yard..
the crunch of the snow under your boots as you walk....
and a pile of seed catalogs in your mailbox!
There is a story in each winter day.....waiting within!

Great photos. I love your attitude and the post about JOY. I myself am ready for warmer days and spring flowers. Peace

I, also, adore winter. The peace, the forced stillness. When else would we rest? I love it.

And what beautiful peace and stillness in this photo, and what dear images you convey with these words.
