Lessons in life...

All we need to know in life, we can learn from a cow...
Don't be just one of the herd
Don't be bossy
If you need to get somewhere, hoof it!
He who lives with the herd
learns to watch his step
Some days can be udder frustration
Following your heart will always
steer you in the right direction!
(thanks to Rache Roo for this knowledge!)
On this blustery day in January, while driving down a country road, I stopped to watch the sight of these cows and found myself smiling. They meandered slowly, oblivious to the snow sticking to their backs and the wind whipping around them. They weren't shivering in the subzero temperature, but instead stopped often for just one more nibble in the pasture they walked in, chewing slowly what they could find as if it were a gourmet treat cooked just for them. They weren't grouped in a corner to protect themselves from the elements, but instead were holding their heads high and enjoying the lot they had been given in life. They walked in silence, voicing no complaints about how bad their lives were, occasionally nudging the one who walked beside of in front of them, just a slight touch to remind them they weren't alone in this. What lessons there were in the few minutes I stopped on that country road!

Here in Alabama we just got our first snowfall, but I doubt if any sticks. That pic reminds me of growing up on my family's cattle farm
