Steps...

What saves a man is to take a step.
Then another step. It is always the same step, but you have to take it.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

One step at a time....and then another, I'm learning how to walk.  I fill the steps with rhyme and rhythm...whatever it takes to circle the path around this short two acres...and one day closer to independence.  Thinking...and focusing on each little aspect of an activity I'd come to take for granted can become very tedious...and frustrating to say the least.  I've learned that I have to look for beauty....for the  simple joys that grow and bloom along my path.   And like a toddler learning to walk all over again,  I need to remember to find the joy in the process...to stumble and lurch and giggle on my journey!    And so you'll find me, basket strapped to my walker with a camera perched in it, taking one slow step after another in the pursuit of  freedom that comes with learning to walk all over again...heel, toe, bend the knee...heel, toe, bend the knee!   But don't be surprised when I stop to smell all the roses Joe grows here (and snap a pic or two)...and there are quite a few!

Well, out of my selfishness I am glad you are slowed down to share more pictures and posts but I know it must be very hard to go through this............What a beautiful rose, hope it smells as good as it looks.

Beautiful rose and gorgeous poppies. Glad you are up and about with those new knees. Are you wearing those famous stockings? Soon you will throw the walker in the air and run along your way with this becoming a vage memory. At least that was how I felt when I could take off the brace after the rods and screws were put in my back. Never lose sight of those simply joys that you so generously share with us in blog land. Peace
