Silence

When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.
When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.
Ansel Adams

Deep in the silence of a sticky summer sunset, joy waved its purple flowers at me as I focused the lens.  A snapshot of time, heaped with memories I'd almost forgotten.   The rusty old wheel was a treasure from a well spent 4th of July flea market.....proving that one mans' trash is often anothers treasure!  A day filled with roasted almonds,  patriotic music, snow cones, hot summer sun and singing along to the oldies on the way home.  Sturdy green vines, growing year after year, transplanted from a friends home and carried to ours in a paper bag, dug in, watered ...then given up for lost after a bitter cold winter.  Two summers later, up it roared...and hasn't quit since.  Proof that roots can be transplanted, that it isn't the house that makes the home...and that even Nebraska winters can't kill some things!  Delicate lavender, waving it's fragrant purple blooms in the sunset...a sight and scent that defies words...and images.  Purchased at an end of season plant stand, she was a leggy, scrawny, single, dry pitiful thing with brown tips on her leaves...and three seasons later has multiplied..and threatens to consume the rooted vine that supports her.  Behind the wheel grows a volunteer...a glimmer of red that makes me smile, as I know I haven't planted anything there for many growing seasons.  A gypsy that dances in the evening breezes and makes no promises about returning next summer.    Simple joys that I found in the silence of a summer sunset...and captured in a photograph.

Such beautiful words from Ansel Adams and a photo which 'speaks' out the simple joys that we can find in the silence of a summer sunset.

Your words are so poetic that I feel as if I am standing beside you smelling the fragance of the lavendaer. Thanks for sharing your silent sunset with us. Peace

Again, your words are so uplifting.
I love the photo. You've caught that beautiful late evening light.
Most times simple joys are the best remembered.
